Encourage young to get sporty

Midweek Sport - - THURSDAY AUG 9 -

THE Olympics are just getting better and better.

I’ve been watching quite a bit of the action and I’m loving it.

I was quite emotional when I saw Jessica Ennis winning her gold medal for the heptathlon.

She did so well in the 800m and ran it in a fantastic time she must have gained strength from the home crowd.

As well as being an amazing athlete she seems like a really nice girl, she comes across as a complete and utter sweetheart.

It was great seeing her win. All these athletes work their arses off and show such dedication and they are proof that hard work pays off.

I really hope it inspires the young generation.

The other day someone was on the telly talking about how young people need to know that it doesn’t cost a lot of money to join a local athletics club or whatever.

They were saying that everyone needs to know that it’s not hard to take up sport but it is. I mean some of them probably don’t even know where to find their local club.

Any kid wanting to take up a sport needs a mum or dad who will support them and drive them places or whatever.

A lot of parents are struggling to make ends meet and can’t afford the time to be taking their kids to clubs, never mind the money.

It’s not as easy as these people make out and I think the government should be doing more to encourage the younger generation to take up sport.
