Mancini splashes out on £8m Sinc

ROB SEALS DEAL ON SWANS’ STAR

- By CHRIS MCKENNA

MANCHESTER CITY boss Roberto Mancini has launched a surprise move for Swansea star Scott Sinclair.

The Premier League winners have yet to do any business this summer and are usually out to sign bigger-name players.

However, Mancini wants a fast-paced winger to bolster his attacking force to ensure City retain their title.

The Italian wants City to challenge for the Champions League as well so is keen to add to his squad.

City agreed an £8million fee for the former Chelsea youth star on Monday and the player and his representatives are in talks over a contract.

Sinclair, 23, has just 10 months left on his contract at the Welsh club which has forced Swansea to allow him to leave.

Impressed

The England Under-21 star wants a move to a top club after looking good last season with the Swans, who impressed everyone with their passing football under former boss Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers may yet try to get involved with new club Liverpool – but he’s currently trying to negotiate a deal for Joe Allen.

But Swansea gaffer Michael Laudrup told Rodgers that he would have to stump up £20m for the Welsh midfielder.

Sinclair joined Swansea in 2010 for just £500,000 from Chelsea who deemed him surplus to requirements.

The Englishman then helped the Swans to promotion in his first season before bagging eight goals last term.

A move to Manchester would not only help his career – it will also move Sinclair closer to his girlfriend, Corrie babe Helen Flanagan.
