Scum who left beaten teen to die facing jail
THUGS who battered a student and left him to die in a freezing stream are facing jail.
Undergraduate Daniel Whiteley, 19, ( above) was on his way home from a night out when he was frogmarched into a park and kicked unconscious after telling his attackers he had no cigarettes.
The teenager was then thrown in a watery ditch and left for dead.
He was suffering from bleeding on the brain and hypothermia when he was found a couple of hours later by a passing cyclist in the Manchester park.
The student, from Barnsley, recovered in the months after and returned to university to complete exams.
Half-brothers Nicholas Lindsay, 22, of Longsight, and Michael Brownlie, 26, of Gorton, had previously denied involvement in the February 28 attack.
But the pair changed their pleas just before the Manchester Crown Court trial began, admitting attempted murder and robbery.
The judge adjourned the “very serious” case for sentence until September 14.
