‘Become Muslim or I’ll stab you’
A BOYFRIEND who warned he was going to attack his pregnant partner with a knife if she didn’t convert to Islam is facing jail.
Kuldeep Chail, 47, made the claim to a passer-by as he brandished the blade at a bus stop.
He insisted he’d use the weapon on his partner if she did not switch to the Muslim faith.
Chail, from Ilford, east London, pleaded guilty to possessing a knife in public at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Judge Nigel Peters QC said: “It is very serious if you walk through the street with a knife.
“The court will have to consider whether this passes the custodial threshold because carrying a knife in the street, albeit a Stanley knife and not a weapon per se, is still outlawed.”
Sentencing was adjourned until September 14 for reports.
Chail was spotted with the blade on Ilford Hill on April 24 this year.
Kerry Moore, defending, said Chail was an alcoholic and drunk at the time of the incident, which he described as “an inappropriate prank”.
“The defendant is not seeking to put forward a good reason at all for this,” he added.
