Mirallas is lined up for an Ars kicking
HOTSHOT EAGER TO PLAY AT EMIRATES
BELGIUM striker Kevin Mirallas has revealed Arsenal have lined him up for a pre-deadline switch.
The Gunners have already been busy in the transfer market this summer as they prepare for life without Robin van Persie.
Euro 2012 strikers Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud are ready to become Emirates heroes this term.
But boss Arsene Wenger feels his squad could still do with an extra forward, especially as Mirallas can also operate as a winger.
And he would cost just £6.4million thanks to a clause in his current contract with Greek outfit Olympiakos.
Mirallas said: “My agent has talked with Arsenal and of course that would be a great opportunity for me, but the move is not easy.
“The clause in my contract is for £6.4m, if a club pays that I go. But I do not think that Olympiakos would let me go for less.”
Mirallas is keen to come to England and Arsenal are his first choice following chats with fellow Belgian Thomas Vermaelen.
He said: “Thomas
is playing well at Arsenal and now a lot of Belgian players are in the Premier League.
“Moving to England would be a good opportunity for me.”
Mirallas would fill the gap left by Nicklas Bendtner, who knows his time at Arsenal is coming to an end.
The Dane said: “Arsenal is not an option and that is something both the club and I agree on.
“I expect to have resolved my situation before the window closes. There are negotiations in the works.”
Bendtner has already snubbed more than one club willing to give him and his enormous ego a space in the dressing room.
He added: “There are a lot of different reasons for that.
“I have three demands and I won’t sign a deal with a club who aren’t prepared to fill those demands.”
Wenger has quashed a tide of speculation from Spain that midfielder Alex Song is on his way to Barcelona.
But the Gunners do seem to be lining up Celtic’s South Korea star Ki Sung-Yueng.
Atletico Madrid, QPR and Fulham are also keen but Celtic are hopeful of an £8.5m offer from Arsenal.
