2 quid loose change punt scoops £40k
A LUCKY punter who scraped together the loose change in his pocket to put on a £2 bet scooped £40,000 after all six of his horses romped home.
Conrad Woodgate, 24, from Hawkhurst, Kent, pocketed the cash after laying the bet on six horses at courses across the UK.
The tree-cutter said he cobbled together the modest stake from the pennies in his pocket and picked the six nags at random for a Tote Scoop 6 bet with bookies Coral.
He added: “I was at home watching the races on TV with some mates.
“I just laughed when my first two horses came in first, but then it started getting serious with five winners. By then my heart was pounding really fast.
“When it got to six I was shaking. None of us could believe it.”
Conrad’s winners were: Highland Colori (3/1) at Newmarket, Desert Law (11/2) at Ascot, Viking Storm (5/1) at Ascot, Mince (6/1) at Ascot, Gospel Choir (5/2) at Haydock and Sun Central (2/1) at Ascot.
