A FACEBOOK troll armed himself with a knife and a snooker cue when the victim of his insults came to confront him.

Luke Lilley, 23, posted a series of offensive comments on a 15-year-old girl’s Facebook page and feared he was going to be on the wrong end of a revenge attack.

He left his home in Barnstaple, North Devon, with his head covered by a hoodie and used the weapons to threaten the teenager and two young friends as they approached him.

Lilley admitted having a bladed article and an offensive weapon and was jailed for eight months, suspended for two years, at Exeter Crown Court.

Judge Francis Gilbert QC also ordered him to attend a Thinking Skills course as part of a 12-month supervision order.

He said: “You must stop drinking too much and stop thinking you’re the big man who can go around threatening people, particularly with weapons.

“One reason why it is very dangerous to carry knives is that in a flash of time one can move from holding a knife to using it, with potentially very serious consequences indeed.”
