‘Good worker’ was bad thief

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

A CONSCIENTIOUS service station worker who never took a day off sick in 28 years has been banged up after being unmasked at work as a secret till thief.

Supervisor Graham Tellwright, 51, would always ignore colds and infections to clock in for duty telling colleagues: “Roll on death so I can have a lie down”.

At one time he was hailed as one of “Britain’s most reliable employees’’ and was in line for a national award for his amazing attendance record.

But bosses caught him on CCTV nicking between £8,000 and £10,000 in cash from customers at the Roadchef service station on the M6 near Stafford.

At Stafford Crown Court Tellwright admitted theft and was jailed for 12 months.
