Duggan ‘handed loaded gun’
A LOADED handgun was given to Mark Duggan 15 minutes before he was shot dead by police, a court heard.
Details emerged as the prosecution opened its case against Kevin Hutchinson-Foster, 30, who allegedly supplied the weapon.
The court heard Mr Duggan ( right), 29, had travelled by cab to collect the gun, and his later death in Tottenham, north London, sparked riots which spread across England in summer 2011.
Snaresbrook Crown Court was told that a handgun found on grass bank near the scene had been in Mr Duggan’s possession after he had taken a cab to collect the gun, which was hidden in a shoebox. After the handover, he had carried on towards Tottenham Hale, taking the gun out at some point during the journey, the court was told.
The cab was stopped by police and he “...was shot and fatally injured as a result of his possession of that gun and what he was thought to be about to do with it.”
Mr Hutchinson-Foster, of no fixed abode, denies all charges.
The trial continues.
