Lag says ‘I’m too fat to fry’

Midweek Sport - - FRONT PAGE -

LAWYERS for a prisoner facing the death penalty say he is TOO FAT to execute.

Ronald Post, who shot and killed a hotel clerk in northern Ohio almost 30 years ago, says his 34st weight, vein access, scar tissue and other medical problems raise severe problems for topping him.

Lawyers for the 53-yearold also said the inmate of Ohio State Pirson is so big the execution gurney might not hold him.

A Federal Court filing also said Post is now discouraged from walking because he is at risk for falling, and suffers from depression, making him eat more.

It adds that given Post’s physical condition there is a substantial risk that any attempt to execute him will result in serious physical and psychological pain to him.

Post is scheduled to die on January 16.
