BREN­DAN RODGERS says Jor­dan Hen­der­son can still carve out a fu­ture at Liver­pool – de­spite al­most be­ing dumped on Ful­ham in the trans­fer win­dow.

Hen­der­son, 22, was snapped up in a £16mil­lion deal from Sun­der­land as part of Kenny Dal­glish’s big spend last sum­mer.

He was a reg­u­lar last sea­son as the Reds stut­tered to an eighth-place fin­ish in the league. But he only had his first taste of Premier League ac­tion as a sub in the 2-1 de­feat by Manch­ester United at the week­end.

Hen­der­son, who has won five Eng­land caps, had pre­vi­ously been re­stricted to out­ings in the Europa League un­der new boss Rodgers.

And, as the new man­ager grew des­per­ate to get Clint Dempsey on board to­wards the end of the last trans­fer win­dow, he even tried to push Hen­der­son to Craven Cottage.

Rodgers has brought in Joe Allen and Nuri Sahin to add to his mid­field op­tions and has pro­moted Jonjo Shelvey past Hen­der­son.

And the Kop chief ad­mits that clashes like tonight’s game against West Brom of­fer Hen­der­son a chance to carve out a spot in his plans.
