The name’s, Sean Bond

BOND legend Sean Connery fluffed his opening lines when he filmed the first movie Dr No 50 years ago.

On his first day on set he had to say the immortal line “Bond, James Bond”.

But Connery, 82, the first actor to portray the legendary super spy, was so nervous he mixed up his words.

Eunice Gayson, who played the first ever Bond girl Sylvia Trench, has lifted the lid on Connery’s crippling nerves.

And the 84-year-old says it was down to her to relax him.

She said: “I’d known Sean for years and I’d never seen him so nervous.

“He had to say ‘Bond, James Bond’, but he came out with other permutations like Sean Bond, James Connery.

“The director told me to take him away for a drink – even though he was meant to be on the wagon – so I did. He came back on set and said, ‘Bond, James Bond’. It was so wonderful.

The 50th anniversary of the release of Dr No is this Friday, 6th October, and the 23rd Bond film Skyfall is out at the end of the month.
