It’s Grimmy up North for Radio 1 DJS

Midweek Sport - - FRONT PAGE -

NEW Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw has just over 1,000 days left in the job – because he’s a northerner, research has found.

As a son of Oldham, Lancashire, Nick, 28 – who took over from Chris Moyles last week – will only last around three years on the flagship program.

Boffins examined the history of the show and calculated the average time before a DJ quits or is fired.

They say the average time a host from the north of England such as Sara Cox and Moyles lasts is 1,091 days.

But DJs from the south lasted longer – an average of 1,704 days, meaning Nick ( above) could be gone by 2015.

The prediction was made by researchers at Friends Reunited.

Spokesman Matt Bushby said: “We wish Nick the best of luck in his new job.

‘’We hope he proves us wrong.’’

Since it started in 1967 with Tony Blackburn, there have been 16 different presenters of the show.
