Arrest grope cop sacked
A POLICEMAN has been sacked for gross misconduct after he made sexual advances towards a woman he arrested on suspicion of shoplifting.
The 36-year-old Cleveland PC faced a disciplinary hearing last week at which an allegation that he had inappropriately touched the woman was upheld.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission said he had abused his position as a police officer, acted without honesty and integrity and behaved unprofessionally.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting in Stockton-onTees in August last year.
A complaint was made about the officer’s behaviour and he admitted “cuddling” the woman in custody.
But his actions were described as “reprehensible” by the IPCC, who dismissed him.
