A PET owner watched in horror as his beloved dog was eaten – by a SEAL.

Matthew Will, 21, had taken his labrador Fly to the beach to shoot ducks, which his dog would fetch from the water.

But the three-year-old pooch was suddenly dragged under the water by the large grey beast as he swam for one bird.

Matthew ran into the water to try and save him but it was too late and Fly had suffered fatal injuries.

The dog died after being attacked in the sea near Newburgh, Aberdeenshire.

Matthew, of Inverugie, Peterhead, said: “There was a sudden thrashing and howling in the water. The seal was more than twice the size of the dog.

“Fly’s hind legs were crushed, his rib cage smashed and his left eye torn out.

“He was pouring with blood and in agony.”

Local environmentalists say attacks by seals were very rare and unusual.
