Police in frozen cock M-may call
A VAN carrying 1,000 frozen chickens crashed and emptied its load on a busy motorway.
Morning drivers were left queueing as police, the Highways Agency and firefighters struggled to recover 30 boxes of birds.
The chickens flew out of the back of the truck when it careered across three lanes of the M5.
It then smashed into the central reservation with such force that the doors flung open – leaving the frozen fowl strewn all over the carriageway.
A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said the driver was treated for minor head injuries after being freed from the vehicle.
He added: “We were called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision and helped clear the road way of frozen chickens.”
