Ford flood car man drowned

A WOMAN screamed that she had killed her hus­band af­ter driv­ing their car into a flooded ford, an in­quest heard.

Jonathan Gam­mon, 52, drowned when the car was swept down­stream by fast-flow­ing wa­ter af­ter his wife Priscilla es­caped through a win­dow.

Mrs Gam­mon ( said the wa­ter looked “de­cep­tive” and “shal­low” at Headley, Berks, af­ter tor­ren­tial rain on April 30.

She told the in­quest she did not re­mem­ber how she got out of the car and swam to safety.

Dorothea Ryan, who was out walk­ing her dog, helped pull Priscilla from the wa­ter, said: “She said ‘I killed my hus­band’.”

Coro­ner for North East Hamp­shire, An­drew Bradley, recorded a ver­dict of ac­ci­den­tal death.
