Alarm bells ring for loud ATM raiders
A BUMBLING gang of raiders were foiled by police after making so much noise during a break-in they failed to hear an ALARM go off.
The men were trying to steal a hole-in-the-wall in Manchester city centre, using power tools to drill and hammer their way through the side wall of a neighbouring mini mart.
But they made such a racket, a security alarm was triggered at the Subway store next door.
Despite the alarm blaring out, the blaggers failed to hear a thing and continued hammering a two foot wide hole in the wall to get at the ATM.
Officers later found three men loitering at the back of the shop but they managed to escape.
Det Con Tony Quince of Greater Manchester Police said: “Thankfully their efforts were in vain.”
