Silly Hunt’s late for Bill

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

HEALTH Secretary Jeremy Hunt has been ridiculed after arriving late to support emergency laws on sectioning mental patients – laws he had demanded!

Mr Hunt was expected to open the second reading debate of the Mental Health (Approval Functions) Bill, but missed the start, only arriving in the Commons after his deputy had started to give the speech instead.

The Health Secretary eventually took his place on the Government front bench moments after Speaker John Bercow called the debate – leaving Lib-Dem Health Minister Norman Lamb to fill in.

Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham backed the new laws, but criticised Hunt, saying: “I am surprised that you’ve not made the case in person.”
