Sir David: I faked my croc fight

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

TELLY legend Sir David Attenborough has admitted he used to FAKE wildlife scenes.

The veteran nature programme host had the nation gripped when he fought a huge crocodile in Borneo on his Zoo Quest show 50 years ago.

But he has now confessed that it was actually only a baby croc and the footage was doctored to make it look bigger!

He admitted: “I found a little crocodile and we did a cod sequence with it – we filmed it close up so that it looked like a really big crocodile.

“I then took off my shirt and jumped on it. Everyone thought I had a fight with a full-sized crocodile. ‘God you were brave’, they told me.”

The 86-year-old ( above) revealed that fooling the nation is one of the biggest regrets he has of his telly career which has spanned 60 years.

He added: “I wish I hadn’t done that.”

Sir David’s latest TV show, Attenborough: 60 Years in the Wild, starts next month on BBC2.

I WENT to the zoo the other day and all I saw was a small dog. It was a shitzhu.
