Taxi ‘dumped’ blind woman

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

A BLIND passenger claims a taxi driver deliberately “dumped” her in the wrong place, mocked her disability and tried to overcharge her.

Lisa Medgett, 42, says the driver told her: “It is your fault you can’t see”, and taunted her for not recognising landmarks.

He then dropped her in Downham, Kent, two miles from Bromley, where she’d asked him take her.

Lisa said: “He was really abusive, making fun, saying ‘You should be able to point things out’.”

She claims the driver wanted to charge £50 instead of the agreed £9.

Lisa stepped out of the taxi after being told she had arrived in Bromley. Luckily a Good Samaritan explained she was in Downham and helped her.

The manager of the driver’s firm, Sure Cars, blamed miscommunication and said Ms Medgett has been fully reimbursed.
