Double yellow standards for traffic warden

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

A CHEEKY traffic warden parked his OWN CAR on double yellow lines as he dished out parking tickets on the very same road.

The uniformed warden was caught red-handed by a passing photographer moments after fining motorists for bad parking.

The astonishing double standard happened in Cardiff city centre where council chiefs operate a “zero-tolerance” policy.

Town hall bosses admitted they WILL tolerate illegal parking – but only by their own traffic wardens.

The AA hit back saying the traffic warden was setting a “bad example”.

The unnamed traffic warden parked up on a double yellow line outside the train station in the Welsh capital.

Snapper Matthew Horwood said: “I was just dropping off a friend at the station when I came across the warden double parked.

“I saw him ticket at least two cars before watching him get back into his own vehicle.

“The fact a warden feels he can flout the laws while handing out fines to those doing exactly the same smacks of hypocrisy.”

A spokeswoman for the council said: “In this particular location the only option for the officer was to briefly stop on the yellow lines.”
