Banker’s ‘£750K theft from ATMS’
A FORMER Halifax worker appeared in court accused of stealing over £750,000 from the high street bank’s cash machines.
Benjamin Sookia, 26, who worked as counter staff is accused of netting the sum over seven months.
A court heard that Sookia, who had held the junior position for six years, was investigated in after alleged irregularities were noticed in his personal accounts.
It is alleged he took cash from ATMs before switching to moving money into his own account electronically.
The Redditch, Worcs, branch worker faced three counts of fraud and three of theft at Redditch Magistrates Court, to which Sookia did not indicate a plea.
The case was committed to crown court and Sookia was granted bail to reappear on February 25.
