That’s wheelie taking the p*ss
FURIOUS residents will have to drag bins a MILE-AND-A-HALF to be collected.
Stunned householders have been told collection lorries will no longer pick up rubbish from their homes in the Cumbrian village of Bootle.
That’s even though the lorries DO come nearby to help disabled residents.
The move by Copeland Council ditches “off-route properties” in a bid to save £120,000.
It forces householders in remote areas to wheel their bins to approved collection points.
For some residents it means taking their wheelie bins a mile-and-ahalf up the road.
Locals fear the move will lead to accidents but Keith Parker from Copeland Council said: ““It’s a direct result of budget cuts.”
