SIGN up to a political organisation and you might receive a complimentary pen, if you’re lucky.
Join the Cambodian Freedom Fighters (CFF) and you’re just as likely to end up with a B-40 rocket or AK-47 assault rifle in your hands as you are a nice new shiny ballpoint.
But then, CFF is NOT your average political organisation.
Established in 1989 by Chhun Yasith in Poipet, near the Cambodian-Thai border, CFF has its HQ in California and describes itself as an anti-communist organisation.
In 1999, it was registered at the Californian Secretary Of State’s office as a political group which aims “to fight against communists to protect the interests of Cambodian people”.
And that fight has involved brute force, terrible violence
