Prisoner does a ‘Predator’ to hide from cops

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

A FUGITIVE being chased by police hid in a stagnant pond – like a scene from top action movie Predator.

The suspect was being pursued by officers and sniffer dogs in Eastbourne, East Sussex, after he committed a serious assault following his release from prison.

In a bid to give them the slip, he laid down in a dirty pond like Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character ( above) in the 1987 sci-fi thriller.

A police dog found the unnamed fugitive lying face-up and covered in algae with only his eyes showing.

PC Baldwin-Charles, 49, said: “He said he got the idea from a film – Predator.

“It was one of our more bizarre escape attempts.”

The man was then arrested and returned to prison.

PC Baldwin-Charles, of Eastbourne, and his dog Sampson have now both received a top award from Sussex Police at a ceremony in Uckfield, Sussex.
