Heroin found at primary school
A PRIMARY school teacher was arrested for possessing heroin after it was found in her handbag in her classroom.
Claudia Reaney, 49, who taught eight and nine-year-olds had drug paraphernalia in her bag as well as drugs in her car.
Police were tipped off that someone at the school in Syracuse, New York, may have been in possession of drugs.
Officers searched her classroom and a police sniffer dog led them straight to her handbag.
The police report states they found “several foils and straws” that tested positive for heroin, and in her car they found the outlawed drug.
Police officer Tracy Jensen said: “She used at least four to five times a day, for a couple of months at least. It has been a huge shock to the community.”
Reaney was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and has been warned her penalty could be tougher because the drugs were on school property.
