MCCARTHY’S CASH BOOST

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

IPSWICH boss Mick McCarthy has been given a £150,000 transfer boost after chief exec Simon Clegg stepped down.

Owner Marcus Evans is taking a more hands-on role at Portman Road and can do without the former British Olympic Association chief.

Clegg’s £150,000 salary will go straight into the pool of cash for McCarthy to strengthen his struggling side.

Clegg said: “At the top of our agenda has been protecting the playing budget. This has led me to the decision that now is the right time to seek a new challenge.”
