MACCA’S GONE AFTER 40 DAYS
ALEX McLEISH walked out on Nottingham Forest yesterday – after just 40 days in charge.
The ex-Aston Villa and Birmingham boss left the City Ground by mutual consent after a series of disagreements with the club’s owners.
“I am extremely saddened to be leaving after such a short period,” said McLeish.
“But even so it has been a privilege to be manager of such a fantastic football club.
“There was a difference in the understanding of the development strategy of the football club.”
McLeish (above) came close to quitting last Thursday night after chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi pulled the plug on a move to sign George Boyd when he failed an eye test.
Al Hasawi said: “I’m bitterly disappointed – as is Alex – that it has not worked out.”
McLeish won just one of his seven games in charge and his side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Oldham.
