Judge sees red over road fine
A HIGH Court judge was fined £60 for jumping a red light and ordered to pay £5,000 in costs for ‘wasting the courts time’ in a year-long battle.
Kuldip Singh QC, 58, ( was caught racing through a central London junction at 65mph in November 2011.
Instead of coughing up he tried to have the charge thrown out, resulting in four court hearings and his case being listed seven times in 14 months – clocking up a £4,769 bill.
His attempts to have the case thrown out were a ‘fallacy from the start’ and led to authorities being ‘overwhelmed’ with work.
Yesterday he pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court to a charge of failing to comply with a traffic signal.
He was also given three points on his licence.
