OAP goes 7 miles up the wrong ’un

A ‘CON­FUSED’ pen­sioner drove at speed the wrong way down a mo­tor­way for seven miles.

Con­cerned drivers called 999 when they were forced to swerve out of the path of the on-coming Peu­geot 207, driven by a man in his 70s.

He was spot­ted go­ing west­bound in the fast lane of the east­bound M27 near junc­tion 8, for Ham­ble, Hants.

Of­fi­cers took 10 min­utes to stop the blue hatch­back as the OAP drove to­wards Rown­hams ser­vices, at 3am on Mon­day.

Cops from the Totton Roads Polic­ing Unit said the driver ap­peared to be in a “con­fused” state.

Af­ter speak­ing to the man and af­ter con­sid­er­ing the cir­cum­stances of­fi­cers de­cided no fur­ther ac­tion would be taken.
