One Show is dieing Hard without Manford

Midweek Sport - - SPORT -

DISGRACED Jason Manford is sorely missed from

– a fact never more apparent than when studio guest Bruce Willis started playing up.

In town to promote the new movie, the Hollywood legend was being a bit of a cock.

And, really, who can blame him? Hosts Alex Jones and Matt Baker – a pair of safety-first BBC dullards without an original thought between them – were trying to engage him in banter about....wait for it....his trademark white vest.

Yeah, well done guys. I bet he has never heard that one before.

So Willis clammed up. He seemed bored and embarrassed, either for himself or for them.

With his lively mind and genuine wit, Manford could have dug them out.

At the very least, he would have punctured Willis’ ego with a few wellaimed northern barbs.

But autocue bunnies Jones and Baker just sank further into the mire.

Manford is a funny kind of hero – more stained boxer shorts than dirty vest – but last week we needed a guy like him.

Yippee Ki-yay, our kid.
