POLICE are probing the mysterious disappearance of 11 MEERKATS from an OAP’s front garden.

The plaster cast figures of TV’s favourite advert animal were much-loved by Tony Triffitt’s neighbours in Podsmead, Glos.

Tony, 73, said: “I am an old age pensioner and I miss them.

“I can’t afford to replace them.

“A lot of people who come past here like them and they raise a smile.

“I don’t know who took them but it may be children who did it for a bit of a prank – and now it’s got out of hand.

“They are very much missed and I would like them back.”

Tony said his meerkats are modelled on the original species from Africa, rather than the Russian characters which pop up in adverts and web films.

Anyone who has seen the models is asked to call police.

Alternatively, Tony said the stolen models can be handed in to the warden of his apartment block.
