Huhne girl drops privacy battle

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

THE partner of disgraced former Liberal Democrat MP Chris Huhne, has dropped her bid to appeal in her privacy battle against Associated Newspapers over a series of stories which appeared in the Daily Mail.

Carina Trimingham’s appeal was listed to be heard on March 12-13.

But a spokeswoman at the Office for Judicial Communications confirmed that the appeal was withdrawn on Thursday last week.

That was just 10 days after Huhne, who attended Southwark Crown Court with Ms Trimingham, had admitted a charge of perverting the course of justice by getting his former wife to take speeding points on his behalf, and shortly afterwards announced that he was resigning as MP for Eastleigh.

Distress

It is reported that Ms Trimingham made it clear that she had pursued this matter as far as she possibly could, but was not able to convince the Daily Mail to apologise for the hurt and distress they had caused her.
