Locals’ view to kill Bond studio plan
FUMING nimbies may need more than a martini shaken not stirred to stomach plans to extend the studios where James Bond is made.
Pinewood Studios – Blighty’s answer to Hollywood – is facing a fight to push through a £200milllion scheme.
Villagers say it will devastate a beautiful area of green belt land.
Campaigners stopped an earlier expansion programme from Pinewood’s bosses in 2009 but now face a new battle in Iver Heath, Bucks, where the studios are located.
In the latest row, Pinewood Shepperton plc has submitted plans to enlarge the site to include new stages, workshops, production offices and streetscapes for filming.
Sylvie Lowe, who is chairwoman of the Stop Project Pinewood campaign group, said “We don’t want to hand over to our children and grandchildren something that’s concreted over.”
Pinewood says the expansion would create 3,100 new jobs and ‘support’ 8,100 jobs.
