‘Throt­tle’ cop is in the clear

A PO­LICE­MAN has been cleared of try­ing to stran­gle his po­lice of­fi­cer girl­friend.

PC Alan Conran, 35, was al­leged to have rowed with firearms of­fi­cer So­phie Wolfenden, 27, af­ter she posted a Face­book mes­sage, say­ing he did not want to kiss her.

Conran who was in the same room, found out about it through a text from his sis­ter and posted a deroga­tory mes­sage on her Face­book page.

Miss Wolfenden claimed he kneeled on her arms, pin­ning her to the floor while throt­tling her in Oc­to­ber last year at their home in Witham, Es­sex.

Conran de­nied as­sault by beat­ing and was cleared by South East Suf­folk JPs af­ter he claimed that he had been a vic­tim of domestic vi­o­lence the pre­vi­ous night.
