A POLICEMAN has been cleared of trying to strangle his police officer girlfriend.
PC Alan Conran, 35, was alleged to have rowed with firearms officer Sophie Wolfenden, 27, after she posted a Facebook message, saying he did not want to kiss her.
Conran who was in the same room, found out about it through a text from his sister and posted a derogatory message on her Facebook page.
Miss Wolfenden claimed he kneeled on her arms, pinning her to the floor while throttling her in October last year at their home in Witham, Essex.
Conran denied assault by beating and was cleared by South East Suffolk JPs after he claimed that he had been a victim of domestic violence the previous night.
