ED HEARNS FROCH A BIG BRIT BATTLE
EDDIE HEARN hopes to set up a “Battle of Britain” between IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion Carl Froch and George Groves later this year. The IBF have told Froch
he must face his London rival or risk being stripped of that belt.
Froch, who had his 36th birthday yesterday, has pencilled in December 7 as his next fight after his win over Mikkel Kessler.
“We are in talks regarding a potential blockbuster domestic fight later this year,” said promoter Hearn.
“Both fighters have plenty of options and although it’s a fight we originally lined up for next summer, it makes sense for both fighters.”
Groves, 25, was once close to Froch, but they fell out in May. Froch hit out after Groves flew to Denmark to spend time in Kessler’s training camp.
