MOYES AFTER ARGIE ACE
DAVID MOYES is keen to snatch Benfica’s Ezequiel Garay as fears over Nemanja Vidic’s fitness continue to grow.
The Serbian defender has sat out the early parts of Man United’s pre-season tour with a back problem.
It is the latest in a long line of niggles that have scuppered Vidic’s recent seasons, with knee problems being a particular issue.
That is why Moyes is set to offer Argentine Garay (left) around £5million a year if he leaves Portugal to move to the Premier League.
United chiefs are in discussions with Benfica bosses to thrash out a deal, with the Stadium of Light side hoping to bring in at least £20million for the centre-back.
Garay, 26, joined Benfica in 2011 after spending three seasons with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The defender has 15 caps for his country and has impressed in the Champions League, including in games against United.
Midfielder Michael Carrick has heaped praise on new Old Trafford boss Moyes.
