GEORGE GRAHAM has urged Arsene Wenger to dust off his chequebook and sign FOUR star names this summer.

The Arsenal boss has been working on a £25million deal for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain but could lose out on the Argentine ace as he talks over his future at the Bernabeu.

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez is another big name on Wenger’s radar, as is Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

And former Gunners manager Graham says the club must stop their penny-pinching tendencies and break the bank to keep up with Europe’s elite.

“Over the last few years Arsenal have not won a trophy and have spent a lot of money on the new stadium,” he said. “Now is the time to spend money on topquality players.

“They need three or four quality players who can go straight into the first-team.

“They have quite a lot of money, so it’s an important summer for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger.”

Graham also feels Arsenal need to address defensive weaknesses.

“They need an experienced second-choice goalkeeper, a topquality physical centre-half, a holding midfield player and a finisher up front,” he said.

Graham can also see why Wenger is interested in the controversial Suarez.

He added: “All the publicity that goes with him takes away from how good a player he is.

“If he comes to Arsenal, then he will get lots of goals.”
