JUST NIPPIN’ TO THE SHOPS, LUV…
A PETROLHEAD has smashed a world speed record – in a SHOPPING TROLLEY.
Matt McKeown, 52, found in a ditch and fitted it with a jet engine and go-kart wheels.
He set a new record of 45.55mph at Elvington Airfield, North Yorks, and is now hoping to break the 60mph barrier.
Matt, of Plymouth, bought the £2,500 Chinook chopper engine off ebay.
He reached a top speed of 48.4mph at the airfield but his average mark is the new record.
Matt, who has run a go-karting track for 30 years, said: “The idea came to me after a customer came into our shop with a motorised bar stool.
“We played around with it and got a video up on our website and it was the most popular thing we’ve ever done.
“So I thought why not make something even more interesting.
“The attention we are getting is just amazing.”
