STEVE CLARKE insist old man Nicolas Anelka can still be a youthful presence at West Brom this term.

The Baggies boss saw his major signing (right) score twice against Puskas FC Academy.

And Clarke can’t stop beaming at the 34-year-old’s immediate impact.

He said: “I never had a doubt about Nicolas because I’d worked with him at Chelsea. I knew the type of person he is and the type of player he is.

“Since he clearly looks after himself, I had no doubts. I have one or two good contacts and I checked him out when he was at Juventus.

“The fitness stats said that he was one of their best trainers. “We are just happy to have him in our group this season. It’s good for all of our forwards to get goals.”
