Ear, look what we’ve made!

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

AN ARTIFICIAL ear has been built by scientists using a 3D printer and cartilage from sheep.

The false ear looks and behaves just like the real thing and offers hope to thousands of kids born each year with hearing defects and accident victims.

They were created by making moulds with cow collagen, the naturally occurring protein that gives skin elasticity and strength, and cartilage cells from sheep.

Docs at Massachusetts General Hospital took three months go make the ‘human ears’, it’s claimed in the Royal Society’s mag.
