Kinnear’s hell Bent on a deal
JOE KINNEAR hopes to finally end Toon’s transfer nightmare when he holds talks with Darren Bent.
Newcastle’s director of football is set to meet the Aston Villa striker’s representatives today in a bid to thrash out a move to Tyneside.
Fulham are also in the race to land the Villa outcast (right), who can leave for £6million, two-and-a-half years after joining from Sunderland for a club record £24m. Kinnear is under pressure, with Newcastle the only Premier League club yet to make a senior signing this summer.
And with less than three weeks to the big kick-off, fans are voicing concerns that the outspoken former Wimbledon boss has drawn a blank since his shock return last month.
Kinnear didn’t help his cause also keen to strike a season-long loan deal for teenage AC Milan forward M’Baye Niang – with a view to a permanent £5m move for the France Under21 international.
The 18-year-old, who has also been on Arsenal and Everton’s radar, is under contract at the San Siro until 2017.
