Kin­n­ear’s hell Bent on a deal

JOE KIN­N­EAR hopes to fi­nally end Toon’s trans­fer night­mare when he holds talks with Dar­ren Bent.

New­cas­tle’s di­rec­tor of football is set to meet the As­ton Villa striker’s rep­re­sen­ta­tives to­day in a bid to thrash out a move to Ty­ne­side.

Ful­ham are also in the race to land the Villa out­cast (right), who can leave for £6mil­lion, two-and-a-half years af­ter join­ing from Sun­der­land for a club record £24m. Kin­n­ear is un­der pres­sure, with New­cas­tle the only Pre­mier League club yet to make a se­nior sign­ing this sum­mer.

And with less than three weeks to the big kick-off, fans are voic­ing con­cerns that the out­spo­ken for­mer Wim­ble­don boss has drawn a blank since his shock re­turn last month.

Kin­n­ear didn’t help his cause also keen to strike a sea­son-long loan deal for teenage AC Mi­lan for­ward M’Baye Niang – with a view to a per­ma­nent £5m move for the France Un­der21 in­ter­na­tional.

The 18-year-old, who has also been on Arse­nal and Ever­ton’s radar, is un­der con­tract at the San Siro un­til 2017.
