Jose snub rumours no Mata for Juan

JUAN MATA is determined to play a key part at Chelsea – despite rumours he’s on his way out.

Stories that new coach Jose Mourinho didn’t fancy the midfielder surfaced as soon at the Portuguese made his return to Stamford Bridge.

And fuel was thrown on the fire by suggestions World Cup-winner Mata (left) would be used as a makeweight in the pursuit of Man United striker Wayne Rooney.

But the Spain star has dismissed such talk and is now intent on proving his worth.

He said: “Everyone wants to feel important for the club.

“I’m very happy, enjoying training with the new boss, and I hope I can improve on the last two seasons.

“We are really looking forward to starting the campaign with him – we are all excited about it.

“Jose did a really great job here a few years ago and I think that we can do it again.”
