HAVING a shag three times a week will help you live longer – according to top sexperts.

Bonk boffins have long told us about the virtues of a good knee-trembler, explaining how a duvet rumble can help beat colds and flu.

But now nosy bedroom analysts actually reckon a bunk-up thrice weekly can actually increase your life expectancy.

Scientists at the University of Pavia in Italy found that test subjects who get balls-deep in their partners exhibited heightened levels of nerve growth – which is crucial to a human’s wellbeing and mental alertness.

Researchers examined the blood plasmas of three different groups – those who had recently fallen in love, those in long-term relationships and singles.

The first group – who were getting it on an average three times a week – showed significantly higher levels of nerve growth compared to settled couples or singles.

But the levels fell the longer a couple stayed together, suggesting clear health benefits during the first flushes of love.

The study, “Raised Plasma Nerve Growth Factors Associated With Early Stage Romantic Love”, concluded that levels of nerve health were “significantly higher in subjects in love than in either the subjects with long-lasting relationships or the subjects with no relationships”.

Relationship expert Tracey Cox, who has her own range of sex toys with saucy online firm Lovehoney.co.uk , said an orgasm a day really did keep the doctor away.

Relaxed

She added: “Levels of the hormone oxytocin rise about 500 per cent during sex, making us feel relaxed and also aiding sleep.

“And regular, satisfying sex boosts the immune system.

“We have fewer colds, lustrous hair, clear, bright eyes, good muscle tone, great skin – and it does burn calories! Around 80 calories per intercourse session.

“Men who have three or more orgasms a week tend to live significantly longer than those who only have one or none.”

Prolific sexbomb Sarah B, a palm-stretching 34D, says she’s doing her bit to ensure her man enjoys a long and healthy life.

The 26-year-old, from Brighton, revealed: “I don’t know about three times a week, I pester my man every day for sex!

“I’ve got a very high libido, but fortunately for me he can, usually, keep up.

“It’s not just about staying healthy, for me regular sex also makes me feel really close and intimate with that person.

“It makes us happier as a couple and that can only be good for stress levels, too.”
