Spearing has toll lot of love for his dad!
JAY SPEARING claims his dad’s tunnel vision means he won’t leave Bolton fans feeling short-changed.
The 24-year-old’s father Keith works on the toll booths for the Mersey tunnel and is a constant reminder of how lucky he is to be playing football for a living.
Spearing, who was on loan at the Reebok Stadium last season, made his second debut against Reading at the weekend following his £1.75m move from Liverpool.
And the midfield enforcer wants to repay his family, along with the Bolton fans who begged boss Dougie Freedman to sign him, for the faith they’ve shown in him.
“My dad is still working as hard as ever on the tunnel. He was on nights before the game but came down despite not much sleep,” Spearing said.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. I’ve got to try to pay back them and the fans with performances on the pitch.”
