A SE­RIES of scary TV ads for the hor­ror film

trig­gered dozens of com­plaints from par­ents af­ter it was screened be­fore 7.30pm.

Watch­dogs launched an in­ves­ti­ga­tion af­ter re­ceiv­ing 28 com­plaints, 27 of which said it was “in­ap­pro­pri­ately sched­uled” while one chal­lenged whether the ad was of­fen­sive.

One of the four ads showed a fig­ure ris­ing from a swamp, a man hold­ing a chain­saw, a knife pass­ing in front of a woman’s blood­ied face and a woman van­ish­ing through a trap­door.

Ad­ver­tis­ing Stan­dards chiefs ruled the ads breached rules re­gard­ing sched­ul­ing and should have been given a post 7.30pm re­stric­tion, though they did not breach rules re­gard­ing harm and of­fence.
