ZIG IS NIK-ING CLARK’S CASH

Midweek Sport - - NEWS - By IAN BAKER

BIRMINGHAM boss Lee Clark says getting rid of just one player will cure his side’s financial problems.

Nikola Zigic (left) earns £60,000 a week but has not played this year due to injury. And Clark said: “You know, if I take away one player out my squad – and this isn’t having a go at him because if I had been a player and that contract was put in front of me I would have signed it.

“I couldn’t have grabbed the pen quick enough – but if he wasn’t at the club, I’d have the second lowest wage bill in the Championship. End of.

“Now, he has been a big miss for us through injury. There is no denying that. But I am just putting the reality out there.

“I am telling the truth as a manager, which I have done all along.

“There’s no finances. You don’t listen, you media.

“Agents are the same. I tell them I’ve got no money but they still come onto me, saying they have got such and such a player who wants X amount of pounds.”
