Cusack: Film biz is like a whorehouse

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

GRUMPY actor John Cusack has compared Hollywood to a “lunatic whorehouse”.

The Grosse Pointe Blank and Identity star says no-one looks after the young thesps when they first arrive in Tinseltown, meaning it’s only a matter of time before they end up on the scrapheap.

And the 48-year-old says it’s “impossible” not to think the movie business is a load of old shite.

Cusack, who stars in new flick Maps To The Stars, said: “People would look after you when I was a kid.

“There were good people in the business. When I came to LA Rob Reiner said, ‘Come stay at my house’. He taught me.

“I worked with Pacino. Pacino would talk to you and mentor you.

“Now it’s different. The culture just eats young actors up and spits them out.

“You can’t make it up. It’s a whorehouse and people go mad.

“Why wouldn’t you have contempt for the movie business?

“It sucks most of the time.”
