DOWNTON Abbey star Laura Carmichael has lifted the lid on the show’s embarrassing WEEING secret.

The actress, who plays posh Lady Edith, says the wardrobe department were forced to alter the period costumes because they couldn’t go for a slash.

Female stars who wear the old-fashioned outfits were struggling to go to the loo.

Laura ( above), 28, said: “There was an annoying moment in series two where our corsets were attached to our stockings, which was a nightmare. The undergarments are a lot better for us now.”

But the star admits she still hates the costumes because they are so fiddly – and admits people are surprised when they see her wearing normal clothes in real life.

She added: “I hate the period costumes a lot. Maybe because you keep having to be fiddled with and sewn in.

“I sometimes feel people are disappointed when they see me in jeans. You’ve spoilt their fiction slightly.”

THE top of the Eiffel Tower leans away from the sun, as the metal facing the sun heats up and expands. It can move as much as

seven inches.
